Nick Walker is a former police officer who was killed in action. Upon his ascension into the afterlife, he was pulled into an office and recruited to the RIPD (Rest in Peace Department).

After his resurrection and reincarnation, Nick's body is now more durable than and living human's. This gives him enhanced strength and the ability to stave off injuries that would cripple or kill a mortal, such as falls from great heights or high impacts, such as car crash. Thus far, the only earthly thing capable of killing him is one of the Soul-Killer bullets.
